It is our great pleasure to host and serve you, our very special guests, here in this most beautiful canyon.
Over time many people have held and still hold the “Stronghold” as sacred ground. Thus, it is indeed important for us to be conscientious stewards while we provide a comfortable and comforting place where others can also partake of the powerful offerings of this canyon.
We have made many new friends here and thank you all, our guests, friends, family for trusting us and adding your energy to our dream of creating a peaceful, wildly beautiful sanctuary.
We live on-site, presently in the Casita Manzanita. It is always enjoyable to share our interests with you; nature & natural history, history, our inner nature… We love serenity, walking and hiking here in SE Arizona, bird watching (some of the very best bird watching is right here in our “back yard”), reading & writing, meditation, music, and so much more…
Nancy Yates Nancy hails from southern Alberta and the west coast of British Columbia in Canada.
“My degrees in nutrition and psychology, and work in environmental administration have been put to the test here. From my earliest childhood I have been deeply committed to nature, wilderness appreciation and sustainable lifestyle. I love to experiment with great foods & new recipes, espicially for breakfasts, work right at home, on the land… ”
John Yates John is a native Arizonan, with delightful memories of an early childhood in Bisbee, with excursions and camping trips to the Stronghold. John moved to Canada in 1968, at the invitation of the Canadian government, to pursue research and his PhD in physiology. For many years he taught science in medical schools and later to complementary health care professionals. In 1996, his young family moved to Cochise Stronghold, a place he had always deeply loved.
