Two days – gone in a flash—but
the powerful beauty, the wildlife, the song of the
wind and hummingbirds, and the peace of this wonderful
place touch our spirit to take with us always. Thank
you, John & Nancy, for your hospitality (and of
course breakfast!). May we be fortunate enough to
see you and the Agave Room again – Morecca & Leigh, New York, NY
This is truly a sacred place. You are both thoughtful
caretakers of the land, as you are of comfort for
the human soul. The food was absolutely fabulous.
The meteor showers were well worth getting up for.
The birds were entertaining and hopefully all the
pictures I took will come out great. This is my 1st
time in AZ, and what a way to spend my 50th birthday…
– Melinda & Ken. Crystal Lake, Illinois

does not smother) its location but is in itself, so
beautiful. Good luck. – Ruth-Ellen. Minneapolis,
MN
It was wonderful to be a "foursome family"
(we seldom are these days) and made more wonderful
through your warm hospitality and the sharing of appreciation
for nature and of course, the "Indian caretaker
spirits" of these mountains. The hot tub was
marvelous, as was the hiking! We hope to return in
short order. Many thanks! For all our relations! (the

sacred place. Happiness always, to and from these
sacred care takers. – Gary, Tucson, AZ
The quiet was deafening… I loved it. What a
wonderful place to think and put "things"
in perspective. Alone in the middle of this all is
what life is about. I was like a sponge… absorbing
all of nature I could in 48 hours. Wish I had 48 days.
Thank you N.J.&S for creating this special place.
I hope to return. – Shirley…Phoenix,
AZ

we came to find this wonderful place… it was
clearly meant to be. Thank you for the care of the

This has been a truly wonderful, relaxing & rejuvenating
week for me. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here
and look forward to bringing many people back and
spreading the word about this awesome place! Spirit
guided me here & I am so thankful. I have enjoyed
our talks and learned a lot… My time in the
tipi was very sacred, as were the wonderful walks
up the Cochise Trail - allowing me some much needed
time to reconnect with nature and all that surrounds
us. I go back with a renewed spirit to walk the path
with more dedication that I've had recently. I appreciate
all that you are doing here, caretaking this land,

leave little pieces of our hearts here, and somehow
return again. – Sabina. Tucson, AZ
An oasis of peace and tranquility. Good food prepared
by caring, gentle people. Beauty that can only be
created by nature itself. These things, and more,
we discovered at your lovely B&B. We both believe
that our seeing the write-up in The New York Times
(and a found copy, at that!) was, in fact, kismet.
Thanks for all your gracious hospitality. We'll tell
our adventurous friends! Best Wishes. –
Bill & Cheri. Beverly Hills, CA

the heated floor. The breakfast was to die for. Once
again thanks. – Cam. El Paso, Texas
We were so lucky to have discovered you on the internet.
What an incredible place - so serene, especially in
the snow. Thanks for all the hiking tips and where
to go to see the Sandhill Cranes. Breakfasts were
outstanding, made more so by the short chats with
you. We plan to return soon! – Axel &
Cheryl. Littleton, CO
To be in a place so remote, yet to stay in accommodations
so tasteful, clean & home-like is truly unique.
The hiking both here and at Chiricahua were both memorable.
– Stuart & Marilyn. Tenafly, New Jah-z
I came for a retreat and I got a very pleasant one.

rocks, oak, and manzanita. The home is beautiful and
comfortable - we would love to live this way permanently.
Well, off to enjoy more on the hiking trail.
– Rachel & Rich. Tucson, AZ
Exposed climbing all day long. 5 rappels to get back
to our pack, 45 minute hike to the truck… the
last 15 minutes by headlamp. I kept thinking "bed
& breakfast" on the hike out. This is a really
cool place. Great breakfast and bird watching for
our tired crew. Ruby crowned kinglet! We'll look forward
to coming back again. – Sally. Scottsdale,
AZ
Sooo, the internet works.
I logged on, I surfed, I conquered.
Dozens of B&B's examined, downloaded, rejected
all in the wrong mold,
Except Cochise Stronghold. – Dave &
Sue. Tacoma, WA
Thanks for being so gracious a hostess. Espicially
last night- accommodating Olympic enthusiasts. Your
accommodations are superb & breakfast was delicious.
It was nice to meet such a nice young man. I hope
to see Sean's name in print someday. Gratefully yours.
– Richard & Susan. Tucson, AZ
We found you in the yellow pages, then the internet.
I was so excited when we made the arrangements to
stay in a straw bale abode - my dream for several
years. I wasn't disappointed. What a lovely place
to escape to from the grind of chemotherapy recovery
and daily grind of work. Time stood still for us for
our whole trip, staring at Fort Bowie and ending here.
Your accommodations are wonderful. The nicest we've
ever encountered. Our hike, though limited, was lovely
and the spa restorative. Your breakfasts delightful.
We'll definitely spread the word and return ourselves,
sometime down the road. Continued success in all your
endeavors. – Lucy & Ken. Tucson, AZ
What an amazing place you have created here just the
sort of place that I am always searching for, and
over the years I have found only a handful of places
that have such a special feel. Thanks so much.
– Karl. Oregon
Our B&B stay was great. Breakfast was excellent
and too much. The hot tub gang loved it… but
they claim they saw two UFOs (but I noticed the wine
jug was empty!). Hope to you soon and another B&B
stay another time. – Shirley & Duane,
Minnesota
This was a wonderful treat! This is such a special
place - and the food was yummy, love those pancakes!
Thank you for everything - we hope to do this again.
P.S. the wine jug was half empty when we brought it!
There was something in the sky last evening.
– Eileen & Stuart. Monteville. N.J.

Thank you (Pilamaya, lila pilamaya) for sharing this
space with us. This, our second time, has fueled our
spirits since we got to spend a full week here. Thanks
for the wonderful smoothies, even though I didn't
"drink them right". Hiking to the West Stronghold
was such a deep experience - always on the move, going
forward and back, gave a small, small feeling of the
Apache spirit in this place. Wisdom comes from these
rocks, peace, touching nature, the wonderful birds,
and the hot tub, without which we could not have risen
again to hike another 5 miles. Thanks for making it
easy to be here, for the nurturing food, for all.
Again, I think of a Lakota phrase that sums it us
- Mitakuye Oyasin (we are all related). –
Barb & Chris. Evanston, ILL
What a lovely, special place - the birds, the desert
country, the starry night and the rare, wonderful
quiet! You live lightly on the earth, in the spirit
of those who were here before you. Thank you for an
all too brief but unforgettable experience. –
Jim & Ray. Mequon, WI
We enjoyed your hospitality and your B&B so much,
it's so close to home but so different from the desert
we live in. Fortunately we don't always have a fantastic
breakfast like you serve or I fear we couldn't climb
the mountains anymore with the added baggage. As former
B&B owners ourselves we know how much work it
is to keep a place looking like yours and to treat
your guests as you do. Hopefully we'll see you and
all the birds again soon. – Jack &
Jean. Tucson, AZ
A most relaxing experience. You have a beautiful setting
here and have done a great job "capturing"
it for your guests - the birds and deer (we also saw
peccaries on the way in). The desert plants, the stars,
and the quiet. The breakfast was magnificent, brought
the more alive with your fresh herbs. We look forward
to doing it again. – Pete & Judy. Palo
Alto, CA
Look for us to return soon. I'd forgotten how much
pleasure I get from my family when we actually sit
and talk, play games, tell stories and enjoy the stars.
You have a perfect place here in the mountain. God
bless you for sharing it with others. –
Karen. Phoenix, AZ
Thanks for the lovely stay, great food and care with
which you run this spectacular B&B. –
Suzanne & Ron. A long way from Brooklyn, NY.
Couldn't resist coming back a second time in same
week. You have woven the sacredness of this place
into the care you give it. Full moon cast shadows
on ancient peaks. Birds soar high playing in thermal
winds seeking refuge between red boulders. The beat
of a hummingbird resounds in the heartthrob of the
mountains. Thank you for sharing this most, peaceful,
sacred place, one with nature, gliding on the winds
of time. p.s. the breakfasts were a fine mouth watering
repast! – Janelle & Paul. Copper Center,
AK
Your taste is striking. We admire your set up and
all the care you put in. Thanks for delicious breakfast.

85th birthday! – Fay & David &
Jill (daughter). Sun City, AZ
It's been the most wonderful experience; everything
all your guests have ever said before and so much
more. There are no words that could really describe

& a deep sense of calm and peace. Thank you so
much. Annie, – Mary, Jane. Castle Donington,
near Nottingham, England. Claire. Inverness, Scotland
Loved being here - not only serene but a testimony
to low impact use of the land - Thank you! –

light in the rocks each day. I also thank you for
taking care of our earth. Food was great. –
Mary Gail, Warriors Mark, PA.
Knowing you has enriched our lives. You have built
a place where the spirit of tranquility can enter
and take hold even if only for a few days… regenerated
from our hearts whenever we remember our visit and
our interaction with your spirits and the spirits
of this place. Thank you for all you have given us.
We ask for your protection and prosperity in the future.
All good things come your way. – Judy &
David. Leander, Texas
In fifteen years of visiting the U.S., I have not
found paradise such as this. Arizona is truly the
best state and your place is an oasis. A stark &
beautiful contrast to playing loud rock music for
a living! Thank you for taking care of us. –
Andrew, United Kingdom
This place is so beautiful & amazing. Thank you
for everything. The breakfasts were mega! We will
come back again. – Karin. Long Island,
NY
Thank you, N., for showing me the ruins of my grandparents
homestead. I feel blessed that my grandparents' "adobe"
was protected by that tree. The ruin had a beauty
of its own. Louise and I are watching the Scott orioles
and hummingbirds sipping your water in the patio.
We are enjoying the tranquility, and magnificent vistas
of this area. We hope to return. – Martha
& Louise. Costa Mesa, CA.
One of the reasons I came to be here was to try and
remember what it feels like to have a Sanctuary. This
place reminds me that when I need that kind of strength
I can find it with my family and I can find it somewhere
in myself. I'll come back to visit for many other
reason, but I won't forget what I learned this time.
– Matt. Tucson, AZ
Absolutely inspiring! Makes me want to follow in your
footsteps. The birding from the patio was excellent,
the skunks at the door, most entertaining. Thanks
so much. – Susie. Phoenix, AZ
The peace which passes understanding can be found
here without the need for seeking and the result of
that peace is found in the love and caring of the
people who care for this part of the earth. Namaste.
– Avery & Barbara. Riverside, CA
Armed with a mid-western image of blazing heat and
windblown sand, imagine our delight when we arrived
at this cool, green retreat, even the rocks are green!
Being coddled by this beautiful house and your ultimate
comfort food while spending our days tapping into
our ancient, natural instincts to hike to the next
horizon made for a combination of sensations that
we will always reflect on when our normal lives feel
dull or oppressive. Rest assured that from now on,
when anyone mentions a need to get away and find the
perfect vacation, we will besiege them with pictures
and stories of this place. And their own mental image
of the Arizona desert will change from dust and tumbleweed
to breezes, showers, birds, and of course - yurts.
Thanks - and see you next time! – Joe,
Anne, Emilie. St. Louis, MO. Ray & Judy. Lexington,
KY
The beauty of the hummingbirds and clouds rolling
over the mountains - images that will stay with me!
And sumptuous foods! – Karen. Maryland
We loved it! Thank you for your kindness and all the
food!! This place is full of surprises and we hate
to leave because we don't want to miss anything! We'll
be back to journey, magic and unlock more "secret
doors". Fondly, – Terry & Brad.
Laytonsville, Maryland
Thank you so for your hospitality, and the peace and
quiet of this place. We're from the city but not of
the city, and places like this are so precious to
our family. Thanks. – Brad, Janet, Marga
& Glenn. Phoenix, AZ
Enjoyed the stay - I will never believe the story
about the 3 little pigs again! The pig with the straw
house had the best of all worlds. – Eloise.
Anchorage, Alaska
We've had a delightful stay - so glad we were finally
able to make it. The birds, deer and canyon were great
however best of all was seeing and learning about
how you constructed the place for maximum thermal
efficiency and energy conservation. We are leaving
with all sorts of good ideas. Great to meet you…
Thanks for the great B&B and good food. –
